Adoption Application and Information

To adopt one of our poodles, please complete an adoption application, and submit it by one of the following methods:

Our process:

  1. Receive application.
  2. Send immediate response that application has been received.
  3. Review application.
  4. Conduct phone screen.
  5. Complete home visit and reference checks.
  6. Arrange meeting with poodle and potential adopter.
  7. Review contract with adopter and obtain signature.
  8. Release poodle to adopter.
  9. Follow up by phone, email and, sometimes, home visit.

Please understand that submitting an application is not a guarantee of adopting a dog.  We will review your responses thoroughly in an attempt to understand your preferences and lifestyle, and match you with a dog that will integrate well into your family, become an excellent companion, and find his or her permanent home.  If we don't have a suitable dog for you at present, we will keep your application on file and contact you when one becomes available.

We collect an adoption fee for every dog that we place.  Every poodle rescued by Delmarva Poodle Rescue has a physical examination by a veterinarian, appropriate health care and vaccinations, and is spayed or neutered (if necessary) before being placed.  Neglected or abandoned poodles may need to be nursed back to health; in severe cases, this process can sometimes take many weeks.  We provide them with food, shelter, and love while we look for the permanent home they deserve.  Adoption fees cover our costs for these services, so that we can continue to help other dogs.

If you have questions about the application or need another way to send it to us, please contact us through the contact page.
